However, if you are increasing the furnace size or running a new gas line to a different location (e.g., converting from a basement to attic installation), a new gas line is needed. A licensed gas fitter will perform a gas load calculation to determine if the existing gas piping is adequate for your new furnace and all other gas appliances in your home.
