Furnace Pressure Switch Hose — Blocked or Damaged

What the Hose Does
A small rubber or silicone hose connects the pressure switch to the inducer motor housing. The hose transmits the air pressure created by the inducer to the pressure switch. If the hose is blocked, kinked, cracked, or disconnected, the pressure switch will not close and the furnace will not fire.
Checking the Hose
Turn off power to the furnace. Locate the small hose between the pressure switch and the inducer housing. Inspect for: cracks or brittleness (rubber degrades over time), kinks or bends blocking airflow, blockages (insects, debris, or water in the hose), and disconnection at either end. A blocked hose can often be cleared with compressed air.
Replacement Cost
Pressure switch hose replacement: $20-50 for the hose, $150-250 for service call and installation. The hose is inexpensive but the service call cost applies. If the hose is blocked by water or debris, check if the inducer is also affected — standing water in the inducer housing indicates a condensate drainage issue.
